Can Hair Grow Back After It Falls Out

Do you want to know how to make your hair grow fast? Even if you have already started to lose your hair. The answer is yes. You can stop your hair loss and make it grow quicker. If you take the right action quickly enough.

The first thought that comes to mind for many people when they want to grow hair quick are "chemical cures". It is only recently though that people are becoming more aware of their side effects and the risks they are taking with their health when they use such methods.

Side effects like loss of libido, erectile dysfunction and hormonal changes, and these side effects are not restricted to men and even worse is the fact that these effects are not temporary either. If you are lucky they are but how many people are really willing to risk their health for their hair? The answer is not many but most people do not know what they are letting themselves in for.

Does ur hair grow back after it falls out because it was damaged?
So my hair has been falling out and I can feel the difference in my hair..and I think it's because I straightened my hair alot and I use products like mousse and hairspray..I jus want to know if my hair will grow back..I can see some baby hair but it's not as much as it use to be

  2. QUESTION:
Can my hair grow back after it falls out?
Ive been straightening my hair everyday for about a year now.
And now my hair got a lot thinner ( I mean that a lot of my hair has fallen out because of the heat), my hair was naturally thick.
I heard that shaving your head makes your hair grow thicker.
Will my hair grow back like it was (thick) if I shave my head? ( I will if I have to)

And if I DON'T shave my head, will the fallen hairs grow back out?
And how long do you think it will take for my hair to go thick again ?

    • ANSWER:
i'm guessing that your hair isn't really falling out but breaking off because of the heat... It will grow back, don't shave it, it's not going to come back any thicker because the hair follicles are not going to change if you shave it off...

try to use leave in conditioner and make sure your hair is completely dry before using the flat iron

i heard that a healthy head can lose up to 100-150 hairs a day. so after you hair falls out, does it grow back? or is there a certain age when it stops growing back?

    • ANSWER:
Yes, hair regularly falls out. "Dead hairs" normally grow back. Some people go bald, where hair gradually falls out without growing back. It really has nothing to do with age, as some people go bald in their 20s or 30s, some not untill their 60s or 70s, and some never go bald.

will my hair ever grow back after its fallen out so much?
i used to have a lot of hair, very beautiful and thick, but then i became very stressed and seriously depressed for a long time, which i think caused my hair loss. now im trying really hard to gain back the nutrients that i lost (i was starving myself) im exercising and doing everything possible from trying to keep it from falling out, but it just wont :( ...i finally made a doctors appoinment...but will my hair stop falling??

can i get it back to how it was??

    • ANSWER:
Starving doesn't make hair fall out. Sorry, I've been there, none of my hair fell, mostly during HS years!

During the last 3 years, OK 2, how have you been styling or have you been straightening & dyeing or highlighting your hair?
      http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/ProductandIngredientSafety/ProductInformation/ucm127988.htm
      http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ByAudience/ForWomen/ucm118527.htm
Those are 75% the reason why.

Have you been taking supplements? Supplements ( billions are wasted and could hurt your lungs, liver, organs) Another 5% why.

Have you been stressed out or changed your diet? Genetics of balding runs in your family? Another 10% why.

Have you been taking medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne? Another 10% why you have hair falls.

Eliminate them and your hair will improve. Not overnight, it could take weeks, months, even years, since it took that look to start the hair loss. Your hair will grow back to the way it was.

Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - the website had moved, type it in. Two others also:
      http://www.webmd.com/skin-beauty/feature…
      http://www.menshealth.com/spotlight/hair…

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tempered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's. When I was in HS, my hair grew from bob to waist length in 3 1/2 to 4 years, and cut 2x a year

  8. QUESTION:
When you bleach your hair and a lot falls out, does it grow back?
I bleached my hair about 6 months ago and I got at least a handful of hair that fell out and I can wrap the elastic around my ponytail an extra time because it's so much thinner. I'm still waiting for my hair to grow back, mostly was lost from the crown of my head.'

Someone had told me that it NEVER grows back again after you bleach it and it falls out, is this true?

    • ANSWER:
The reason it fell out was because the bleach was left in your hair too long and it basically "burned" (chemically) your hair out. It will grow back eventually but it will take longer because there was damage done to your scalp. Even when it does grow back it may not be as thick as before.

  9. QUESTION:
Will Hair Grow Back After A Perm Caused It To Fall Out.?
I used to have really thick, long curly hair. I got a perm to straighten it for awhile because my hair would never stay straight after flat ironing it. Anyways I put a perm in my hair, and I think I left in it too long, and when I went to rinse it out big chunks of my hair fell out. I was crying and screaming. Well now my hair is really thin, isnt as full as it used to be, really dry and grows slowly.

I just want to know what can I do to get back how it was and would my hair ever grow back and be as thick and full again???

Oh BTW I am Black, Puerto Rican and Italian. So I have biracial hair but it wasd curly and Mid back length. I havent used anything yet to try and fix it.

  10. QUESTION:
will my hair grow back after the hair dye made it fall out?
i had dyed my hair blonde, it burned my scalp bad, and my right side of my head looked buzzed. then it was growing out, i dyed it blonde again seemed, fine but it was very fragile and soft, once i dyed it black it started falling out in chuncks in the shower or when i brushed my hair, now it doesnt, it grew out some but i was wondering if it will grow back where it fell out? i dont have no bald spots, but i can tell my right side of my head is thinner than the left, and i have very thick hair, a lil been growing back, bus if it was falling out like that you dont think that my hair foliculs would be damaged to the dye, and that my hair will grow back???

    • ANSWER:
Your hair seems really damaged. Don't dye it for a while or use any heat on it either. Try putting mayo in your hair. It has egg which have protein and it'll help your hair a lot.

  11. QUESTION:
can hair grow back after stress?
i have been very stressed. most of my hair has thinned and is falling out. only 2 weeks and then i`ll be bald.

the hair has receeded at temples, but i have no bald spot, just thinning. if it is stress and not Male pattern, will the hari grow back? i am worried it wont as no new hair is growing, its all just falling out!

    • ANSWER:
Yes, the hair will grow back -- as soon as the stress is removed. But if you are going to be worrying about whether the hair is going to grow back or not -- well, that's not going to be helping, is it?

The hair will grow as long as the hair root is getting the nutrition it needs to make hair. Stress, and other factors, will stop the flow of blood, or if you are not eating well, and the hair literally starves. There is nothing you can do on the outside to fix that, other than remove the stress, and regain your health.

Hair is not necessary for survival, so the loss of hair is not really that important. It can be a forewarning that something is not going right in the body, so take heed. If it indeed is stress, you will have to learn how to manage the stress. And stop worrying about hair!!

  14. QUESTION:
Why would A LOT of hair fall out then grow back in (female)?
    Hi all,
Every couple years A LOT of my hair falls out. There's about 4 times as much as usual in my brush and the shower drain everyday. I can run my hands through my hair and several strands fall out easily.
It falls out for a few weeks then slows down back to normal hair loss. Then it all starts growing back. About 6 months after it grows back I have TONS of regrowth that's all the same length and only about 4 inches long all over my head. Looks kind of funny since my hair is past my shoulders and the regrowth sticks out all over since it's short.
The problem is that it is happening more often now. About every 6 months I go through this hair loss for several weeks. My ponytail is getting very thin! I'm only 37 and I don't think it's thinning from age since it always grows back.
Ever experience this? What is it? I have appointment with doctor in a week.

    • ANSWER:
Some medication may cause you to lose hair. Stress can also cause you to lose hair. Not sure but I believe some BC pills do that. Maybe even hormones.

  15. QUESTION:
Does facial hair grow back after radiation therapy?
Hi I had radiation therapy on one side of my face after a tumor was removed below my ear. All of my hair from my beard on one side of my face has fallen out and the hair on one side of my head as well. Does anyone know if the hair does grow back and if there is anything to do to quicken the process? Its been a few months and so far i don't see anything happening. Is there anyone that knows anything about this or has experienced this and can give me some information?
This is a very difficult time for me as i am suffering from many other side affects as well like no tear ducts in my eye and no salivary glands in my mouth but the hair is something that everybody sees and it is very uncomfortable for me going out in public this way.
Thank you so much in advance!
    Joe

    • ANSWER:
From experience from my brother who had radiation, and from my dog as well, no, it is unlikely that the hair will grow back. But....read the bottom, too.

My brother had a cancerous salivary gland removed, and lost the ability to produce saliva from the remaining gland on that side of his mouth. The other side was not affected. His beard, and his hair remained thin. It never all fell out. But it never all grew in, either.

My dog had a cancerous tumor in her hock (hind leg joint) removed, and endured 21 days of radiation. The hair never returned, but both my brother (this was 30 years ago) and my dog, (3 years ago) are alive, and well. And I'd take that over having hair and dead any day.

I'm thinking a plastic surgeon could use your chest or pubic hair (it has the same type of follicle) to transplant in plugs for a beard, and other hair at the back of your head to replace hair above your ear....., like that which is done for balding men.

      Check into it.

There are many possible causes for this type of hair loss, including chronic yeast infection. Essential oil scalp massage can help stimulate new hair growth get the rest of the hair healthier. The new hairs you are seeing should eventually thicken and darken. The sides can be more stubborn and take longer but the essential oil massage treatments should help.

  22. QUESTION:
How Can I Re-Grow My African-American Hair After A Relaxer Hair Loss?
My hair just recently fell out from a perm. I would like to know what should I use to help it regrow back in fuller, because I had a pretty decent amount of long hair and now it is very thin and has a very few bald spots. How often should I conditon my hair and what products should I use, also my hair is color-treated...? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Go to Sally's beauty supply and buy Wild Grow Oil, it will work wonders! Best of luck.

  23. QUESTION:
Do relaxers make your hair fall out and...?
I'm talking about the relaxer/perm for black people that make their hair straight, not curly. I'm an African-American female, 16,. My last perm I think was in October 2010, I have stopped using them because I heard that they make hair fall out and stop your hair from growing. But now my mother is saying that my hair is falling out and is breaking. I don't know what breaking is, but I definitely don't notice it falling out. My hair now is very frizzy but washing it is always sufficient enough to make it come out very good looking but I think eventually my mother will force me to get a perm whether I like it or not.

So my questions are do relaxers really stop your hair from growing and make your hair fall out because my hair is pretty long and I dont want that to happen, what can I do instead of perms - should I just wash my hair more often? I've also heard of texturizers, would they work? and how hard would it be to go back natural if my mother does make me get another perm?

also how hard would it be to make your hair grow after relaxing it? Sorry for so many questions, I know it's a lot but I would really appreciate your help, my hair is almost my life. Thank you, best answer to most helpful advice.

    • ANSWER:
Relaxers don't make ur hair fall out unless its over processed or u don't take care of it (I.e) leaving the perm in too long or not keeping it moisterized...it could take over a year to get back to ur natural hair...I haven't had a perm since oct 08 because I wanted my natural hair texture back and now I have my curls back but it is sometimes hard to manage the natural look...its not hard to grow ur hair if u keep it healthy, but keeping it moisterized and keeping ur split ends clipped...u could try a straightener if u don't want a permtheres one called ogalvee that works really good and u can get it from walgreens or cvs...hope this answers all of ur questions

      - Anything from the brand FrizzEase works preety awesome. So does Infusium 23 shampoos.

*Hair still frizzy? Take a curling iron to the top layers. It will only take a second, and the heat will zap the frizz out.

*1 advacado, and 1 tsp. Olive Oil. Mash the advacado, and add the olive oil. Mix. massage into hair, leave in for 20 minutes. Wash hair as you normally would. You can double this 'recipe' if your hair is exceptionally thick or long.
      * Mayonnaise. Yeah, sounds pretty gross.. But it will make your hair smooth and soft. Apply it to hair, leave it in for 10-15 minutes Rinse out, wash hair as you normally would.

Tips To Stop Hair Loss & Keep Healthy Hair Here are some hair care tips that you can use to help stop hair loss and keep your existing hair healthy and looking great. Please don't take these tips lightly. They are very important . The only thing they require is your time and commitment.

      - Massage your scalp with your fingertips (not your nails) daily to stimulate and promote circulation to your scalp and reduce excess fallout. Invert your head while you shampoo & massage your scalp. This helps promote blood circulation to the head.

      - Essential oils & tea . To stimulate scalp circulation, massage the scalp with rosemary essential oil or rinse hair with tea made from sage.

      - Comb or brush your hair and scalp gently in the morning and at night. This helps break up hardened oils (sebum) that are clogging your hair follicles. Doing this alone has produced new hair growth. Do not over do combing or brushing.

      - keep a distance from dryer's heat. When using blow dryers, always keep the heat a good distance from your scalp and hair. Avoid heating the scalp and hair excessively. Excessive heat will increase hair loss, and excess fallout.

      - Avoid getting hair creams, lotions, styling gels and sprays directly on the scalp as they will clog your hair follicles. Use a light hold spray if you must.

      - After swimming in a pool, shampoo your hair as soon as possible to remove any chlorine residue. Chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair and scalp.

      - Avoid over-exposing your hair and scalp to the wind and sun. Good hair care over a long period really makes a difference!

      - Avoid tight hats and caps as they contribute to poor circulation, depriving the hair of proper nutrition and stunting new hair growth. The sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build-up.

      - Always consult your health care provider for extreme causes of excess fallout and thinning. A medical condition or medication could be causing hair loss side-effects.

      - Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional lifestyle. High stress factors can cause your body to react by fluctuating hormone levels. This in turn causes excessive oil secretion (sebum) which results in hair loss.

      - Pregnancy, nursing, menopause, and even birth control medication can cause constant changing factors on your nutritional needs and hormonal levels which contribute to hair loss and excess fallout.

      - Avoid "crash and fad" diets. Proper nutritious meals along with vitamin and mineral supplements are a key factor for healthy hair and skin.

      - Good hair care starts with awareness. These hair care tips, if followed consistently, will reduce excess fallout, hair loss, and promote new hair growth.

      - Reduce hair loss effects by increasing your intake of vitamin C found in fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly citrus fruit and juices, parsley, broccoli, green peppers and black currants. Take a vitamin B complex everyday or brewers yeast. Increase your intake of protein found in meat, fish, liver, wheat germ, dried cooked beans and peas, tofu, cheese, milk and eggs.

      - Take dietary supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc & saw palmetto. Supplements are useful when you can't get enough from natural food sources.

      - The Chinese believe that hair is nourished by the blood, and therefore influenced by the kidney & liver. Treatment is aimed at these organs using fleece flower root, wolfberry fruit or mulberry fruit.

      - Eliminate stress or else it can be disastrous to your precious hair!

      - Get enough sleep. Sleeping well is essential for the health of your hair as well as for the rest of your body.

There are ways you can help stop the grease from appearing but you have to work at it.

Do not wash everyday. The cleaner your hair is the more it can seep into your glands and harder it is to get rid of. When you do wash make sure you are washing with a cleaning shampoo and scrubbing the build up off. Take in mind that you also have to have a ph-balanced mild shampoo and lite scrubbing is recommended. Try to avoid conditioner at the roots, apply in the middle or on the ends.

Try to avoid oil in your daily food intake. And do eat more vegetables. You could visit your doctor but only after you check and consider your diet, drugs, alcohol, and your fatty food intake. Let's face it we see what McDonalds can do to your heart in a month, can you image your hair. You would be dripping everywhere.

Maybe it's time to change your shampoo. Ask your stylist what she or he would recommend. Avoid using shine products at all costs. Keep away from two-in-one shampoos and conditioners and any frizz serums.

To fix at the moment, rub a little Talcum Powder on your dried hair at the roots. Just make sure you wash it out. I wish they would event that magic product, but this will help until they do.

Here are 10 tips for to keep your hair strong, smooth, shiny and beautiful!

      1. Keep your diet balanced, and eat protein and calcium rich foods. Stay away from junk foods! This is essential for healthy hair.

      2. Foods and supplements to nourish your hair:

      * Beans
      * Yogurt
      * Almonds
      * Vitamin B
      * Fish
      * And of course, the magic potion for beauty - WATER

      3. Before washing your hair, comb it well to make sure all knots has been loosened from your hair.

      4. Before applying shampoo, use warm water (35 to 38 degrees Celsius) to run through your hair to rinse and wet it thoroughly.

      5. When applying shampoo or conditioner, don't use your fingernails to scrape through your hair. Instead, use your palm and fingertips to massage your scalp and hair gently, in circular motions. This will help the circulation and also help to keep your hair shiny and smooth.

      6. After rinsing away all the shampoo, run water over your hair for at least another half a minute (3 minutes is best) to ensure there are no remains of shampoo remaining in your hair, since this will cause a great deal of damage to your scalp.

      7. When applying hair treatment products, do so just after you have washed your hair, so that your hair can absorb all the good stuff while it is half wet. This will be the best time for it to absorb nourishment.

      8. NEVER go to bed with your hair wet! Hair that is half wet is most easily broken, and if you sleep during this time, your hair will be rubbing against each other, damaging your hair in the most terrible way.

      9. Too much pressure may lead to hair loss! Relax... try some good relaxation methods such as soaking in a nice scented bath, listening to music, and eating healthy comfort foods such as strawberries and grapes.

      10. Perming and coloring seriously damages your hair. Avoid it as much as possible. Also, when using hair setting products such as gel or putty, use as little as possible, because they hurt your scalp and hair. Wash them out thoroughly afterwards with a shampoo specially created for removing styling products.

i have a little cousin called nicole, who is four years old. she is a very spoiled little girl, who always gets upset when she doesn`t get her own way. she was an only child raised by her single mother. aunt rose had recently got married again. her husband is a man called harry, who was a single father. he has a six-year-old daughter called jade. jade had also been greatly spoiled by her father, who doted on her. after the wedding, the two girls did not get along. nicole often tattled on jade and got her into trouble. jade thought nicole was an annoying little sister. unfortunately, jade got cancer and was in the hospital for ages. she had to undergo many treatments, including chemotherapy, which made all her curly hair fall out. when she got home, people gave her most of the attention. they let her have her own way because of her illness, which made nicole jealous and bitter. nicole feels ignored and left out. she threw temper tantrums and became greatly attention-seeking. she had even tried to fight with jade on some occasion.. there were times when she was mean to her sister. nicole had teased jade, called her names and took her anger out on her. when they go out as a family, jade might not feel well and they have to hurry her home. nicole would cry and scream because she wants to stay and play. aunt rose and uncle harry would just comfort her, saying"we have to go home now because your sister is tired. we will play later." also, aunt rose is now pregnant and there are a pair of identical twin girls on the way. their names will be grace and emma. what can i do to help them?

    • ANSWER:
Human hair typically grows at a rate of around half an inch (1.25 centimeters) per month, and this rate of growth is consistent across the head. Several factors can influence both the rate and quality of hair growth, including diet, age, and general health. As a general rule, products which claim to increase the rate of hair growth are not effective, although such products can encourage the development of stronger, healthier hair.
As for your other question that is more difficult especially since you are not living with Jade and Nicole and so can only help a little when you are with them. About all you can do is give them both equal attention and as far as possible ignore the fact that Jade is ill. I knew a young guy who died of cancer when he was about 12 and he resented the fact that people "mothered" him all the time , but that was just his attitude , small children like lots of attention.

  26. QUESTION:
I just had cellulitis on the side of my head and my hair is falling out, can i stop this? will it grow back?
I had the infection a little more than 2 weeks ago and and i was literally too sick to move. i was prescribed Zyvox 600 mg tablets to take twice daily for 10 days, and my infection went away. i have been under an abnormally high amount of stress during this infection because my grandma died last sunday. my hair didn't start falling out until after i was off of the antibiotics for about 2 days, initially the amount of hair that fell out was about the size of a penny, and it stayed that way until today. i scratched my head and looked at my hand and it was covered in hair, it came out like it wasnt even attached. now the size of the bald spot is slightly larger than a 50 cent piece. i am beginning to worry. please help, does anyone know if there is a way to stop my hair from falling out? or if it will grow back? and if it does grow back is there a way to make it happen faster?

After a Head Injury, Will hair grow back? any solutions?
At college i fell on my head from a bacolny, noticed my head was bleeding. Used Hydrogen Peroxide to clean the wound (wasnt large it was a slit). After healing, everything was fine, but this year the wound was a little swollen, i pressed it and puss came out. about since then, there has been a patch of hair missing the size of a quarter. Ive grown my hair out long so nobody can see it. But I hate having long hair, will it every grow back? is their anything I can do to fix this? I have been discussing with my parents getting a hair transplant for the patch ( I figure it shouldn't be TOO expensive since its smaller, so it should be cheaper than a full scale transplant). But any feedback is appreciated!

  29. QUESTION:
What is hair breakage and does hair grow back if you cut it?
I can't find the answer to this anywhere. Does it mean your hair falls out? Please answer simply. And does hair grow back if you cut it? My hair was cut last year and it was not my choice :( It's almost been a year now and my hair is still pretty much the same length. I wonder if it's from hair breakage because I hear heat causes that and I use a flat iron to straighten my hair. I'm black so I need to straighten my hair, I can't let it air dry after a wash and comb through it like white people or something. That won't work.
Also, I forgot to add this. I was wondering if shaving helps your hair grow? I've heard many times before that when your hair is shaved, it grows back thicker and faster than before, and that proves true because I see guys like that who shave their hair and it grows back so fast in like just a month and before you know it they're getting it cut again o.O Is this true because it seems so, from my observation of men/boy's hair.

    • ANSWER:
      1) Hair breakage is just what it says. Breakage. It breaks off. Like if you break a stick. That's what's happening to your hair.
      2) Hair grows until you die.
      3) Yes, if your hair is the same length it's most likely breakage.
      4) "I'm black so I need to straighten my hair" ~ That's the most bs I've ever heard. Go onto naturallycurly.com, curlynikki.com, nappturality.com, even youtube (type in "natural hair") NONE of those women straighten their hair and they do what white people do (at least white people with curly hair) add gel, scrunch, and go! Our hair isn't hard to manage if you know what you are doing.

If you are relaxed you can air dry with styles like braid outs, twist outs, bantu knot outs, pin curls, flexi rod sets, straw sets, and wear styles like buns, braids, twists, chignons, and french rolls as well that do not damage your hair. You don't have to wear straight hair constantly..

But, if your hair is natural our hair is tightly CURLED hair. We have curly hair! If you let it be curly it will grow with no problem! If you straighten it and try to make it into something it's not that's when you have issues.

  30. QUESTION:
my hair fell out after taking certain meds-any advice?x?
my hair started falling out after i took a certain medication-how can i help it grow back-diet, any medication, massaging the scalp, shampoo's or conditioners-what really works? thanks guys-its so depressing :(

    • ANSWER:
I'm sorry to hear that. I can imagine that would be depressing. Your doctor should have discussed this with you. The good news is that after finishing most medicines which cause hair loss, your hair will grow back. There's no quick fix but omega-3 fish oil capsules are said to speed up hair growth (not sure if that's a fact but it worked for a friend). In the meantime, you can experiment with extensions or cute hats to hide any hair loss if you want.

  31. QUESTION:
can I grow my hair long like 24 inches after I have experienced hair loss from hair dye?
I died my hair with a semi-permanent hair color that caused it to fall out..I know that it will take time to grow back, but will I be able to have long hair again? I also experienced some loss in my hair line along with some baby hairs, will those come back?

    • ANSWER:
wow after just one dye your hair fell out? that is really weird. it usually takes dying your hair over and over again in a short amount of time to make it fall out. i am talking about some really excessive dying. I did my hair four times once in one day and it never fell out.
But dont worry! your hair is not gone forever, it will all grow back, just will take time like hair does to grow =]

  33. QUESTION:
laser hair removal - can I shave it after?
I am female and have some facial hair so am considering laser hair removal. I read that you cannot pluck or wax leading up to the treatment, only shave. Then the hair takes a few weeks to fall out. I usually pluck and wax as I don't want anyone to find out about my problem, so waiting a few weeks for the hair to fall out would be awful! Can I shave the hair just after the laser treatment? Also, do I need to let the hair grow back before a consultation?

    • ANSWER:
i start plucking them out immediately after the treatment and never have a problem. And yes you can shave right afterwards. And actually if it is your face, a good electric shaver will do the trick. do not use razor like for your legs. if the hair follicule is truly dead from the laser, the hair will slip right out. I can usually pull it out with my fingernails.

My dermatologist usually doesn't let me come back for another treatment for at least 3 months. it takes time for hair to grow and it grows in 3 - 4 cycles. your hair doesn't really have to be that long when you get the laser. it is not like waxing where it needs to be a certain length. I have had my stomach done, and they actually told me to shave it as short as I want. just don't wax...that is pulling the hair out from the root and the laser may or may not get the job done.

As far as hair growing back for a consult. just make sure it is long enough that whoever you are going to (hopefully a dermatologist with a liscense) can see what you want removed.

  34. QUESTION:
Can a slightly receding hairline grow back after stress?
I've been under a crapload of stress and it seems to me that my hairline is receding only slightly. I'm sure this is completely natural, but it might just be that my hair is falling out at a ridiculous pace. It's as though my hair is shrinking instead of growing.

What can I do to make my hair grow back? Why does stress do this? I've heard of shedding but THIS is obnoxious, and I am trying to ask for the best possible ways that help hair growth and relaxation. This is super important to me and I really appreciate all the responses. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I have never, ever heard of a receding hairline returning. sorry.

  35. QUESTION:
How long will it take for my hair to grow out?
I've recently had some bad times with my hair. Back in April I made the mistake of using a home bleaching kit. It was bad. Had it sorted out at the salon and went back a month later to have my roots sorted and my hair fell out to the point where I had short spikes at the top of my head.

I'm growing my hair out now, no more colouring at all, so I can get my natural hair colour back, which is a slight issue as when I coloured my hair to a darker shade, it looked good for a while and then faded a lot where the bleach knackered my hair (its still brown, just quite light)

So what I'm wondering is how long it will take to grow out. I had it chopped off to my shoulders after the bleaching incident and in just under 4 months its grown about 2.5/3 inches or so. The spikes arent spikes now, there growing out quite a bit. I'm going on holiday in June next year, do you think it will have mostly grown out by then as my hair grows quite quickly anyway? I'm more interested in my hair being long but it would help if the colour was more or less back to normal =)

    • ANSWER:
Oh no! I've had some really awful probems with hair dye too, I'm currently growing my hair out, as I hate the colour it came out when I dyed it :(
Everyones hair grows at different speeds, so it's quite hard to tell! You said that it grew 2.5-3 inches in just under four months, so you can use that figure to estimate. I guess, in about a year it'll have grown about 9 inches? That's quite a lot if you think about it! Mine takes ages to grow!
      Good luck!

  39. QUESTION:
HELP! How can I make my hair grow back to the way it used to be?
Summer of last year I was a natural blonde, my hair was kinda thin but you couldn't tell. So, I wanted to dye my hair brown, I was stupid and decided to go to Hair Cuttery, biggest mistake of my life. After I got it dyed there my hair started falling out, not really bad, but small pieces, to the point where the shower drain was clogged. So my mom made me go on vitamins, use special kerotin shampoo, and waited 4 months to see if my hair got better, it sort of did. I got my hair dyed recently again and now my hair is doing the same thing again, (this time I went to professional stylists).
What can I do to get my hair to grow back? Like, if I lift up the top layer of my hair, you can see skin, kind of a lot. I can't even pull my hair back into a ponytail anymore without making sure no skin is showing.

1yr after perm and hair still falling out?
In May 2008 I had my hair permed. Not only was my hair not healthy enough for this (as I found out later), but it was over processed and all around ruined. Since then I have gone from having hair thats to thick to hold in one hand to so thin I can see my scalp. It falls out mostly when washing/conditioning (which I keep to a minimum every 3 or 4 days to let my natural oil nurish my hair) and I've noticed that alot of the ones that have fallen out are broken..but then alot are from the root too (they still have the ball on the end). Aside from a repairing serum shampoo, leaving conditioner in it over nite (Once a week), leave in conditioner and olive oil, How long will it take for my hair to finally stop falling out and when will it start growing back? My hair is still growing..as the perm is about half way grown out, but my hair is still falling out..And ideas???? Any help/tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:

  41. QUESTION:
will my hair grow back normally?
I got a really bad sunburn on my scalp after shaving my hair, I was in the sun for about 7 hours and I have several layers of dead skin, blistering, and burning on my scalp. I've been doing everything I can to help healing, using vitamin E and other things the lady at the health food store recommended. should my hair grow back normally? Will it fall out all together? I'm pretty scared, I've always had fantastic hair and will be really bummed if I end up bald or blotchy.
    anyone...? :(

    • ANSWER:
Your hair should grow back just fine. There might be a few very tiny spots where the worst of the blisters were that aren't perfect, but they won't be even the slightest bit noticeable through your hair :)

  42. QUESTION:
Why is my hair not growing back after a year?
I had my hair bleached in Mar. of 07 3 x's in one night by a salon. Afterwards my hair was fried and started falling out bad leaving me with bald spots. I've seen a derm. and endo. Both say due to bleaching. All blood work for hormones and ph is normal. I do take multi liquid vitamins & just started taking hair skin & nail vitamins. Will my hair ever grow back in? Is there anything else I can do to help it come in faster? My hair looks healthy now just lots and lots of thinning on top. The back and underneath of my hair was never touched therefore it never thinned. Sorry to go on, I'm just really scared of the loss I have. Thanks to all who post answers.

  43. QUESTION:
After illness losing my hair and it won't grow?
I was seriously ill in July and since then I have lost over 50 pounds and my hair which use to be thick and long is now short and falling out alot. What can II do to help it grow back to the beautiful thick hair I had, keep it from falling out, and grow again in length? Can stress also be a factor?

    • ANSWER:
Stress and illness form a big factor, just like unhealthy diets can do. When you were ill and stressed, it has effect on your hair due to the tension it caused in the blood vessels. Also, missing vital nutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc. that were used to cure your illness and cope with the stress were taken away from other parts of your body, and one of the most visable effects you have is on your hair.
The best thing you can do is getting your food intake balanced again and making sure you rest a lot, drink a lot of water and eat healthy foods.
Wash and condition your hair, stay away from chemical treatments like coloring, bleaching, perming, etc.
The best thing you can do in case you don't know what nutrients you have to take is to visit a doctor and take a blood sample, so they can analyse it in a lab and see what is missing in your blood or at a too low/too high level.

  44. QUESTION:
Tips to make my hair stronger after a perm caused it to fall out?
I had a perm done over a year ago and needless to say....it destroyed my hair. My hair was so thick I couldn't hold it all in my hand and now its about as thick as my thumb. I've been cutting the perm out little by little...trying to keep the weight off as much as I can..keeping it about shoulder length and using Dove with repairing serum shampoo and conditioner. Other than what I'm already doing...is there any other advice to strengthen my hair and help it grow back? It constantly falls out when I wash it/brush it. Its driving me crazy losing my hair! Any help would be truly appreciated! Thanks!

  45. QUESTION:
How can I make my hair grow back?
Since I've been out of the military six years ago, I noticed that my hair was thinning. I've gotten back into shape and lost 40 pounds, but my self-confidence hasn't come back. I've tried Rogaine, Procerin, and some other products. If I had the money, I would have gotten a hair transplant by now, but that's not a viable option at this point. I'm sick and tired of worrying whether or not it will ever return. For the past five months, I've been using this special shampoo called Nioxin, and I don't see the difference. I don't have a full head of hair again. Maybe it just stopped the hair from falling out. I'm 31 years old, and I'm sick and tired of looking in the mirror and seeing my thin hair. Night before last, I started applying olive oil to my scalp before I go to bed in the evening. I even hang my head over the edge of the bed for good measure. I've not been in a relationship with a woman for the past six years, either. Part of that's because I got out of the military, adjusted to civilian life, and went back to college to earn my degree.

It's bad enough that I have Asperger's Syndrome as that makes me have two strikes against me. I'd hoped my self-confidence would return after I lost weight and started getting beefed up (which I'm doing.) I'm not going to get a toupee because those look fake. That's the same problem with many hair transplants, too. Nicolas Cage now looks like a Chia pet because his looks fake. Not to mention, there's no money back guarantee when that happens, too. I'm not going to shave my head, either, because I look like a neo-Nazi with my blond Aryan features and a shaved head. Several people have commented how my physique has really changed, yet I'm not feeling complete because of this damn hair situation. Does anyone out there recommend some diet techniques or supplements? What are the absolute best products I can use to make my hair grow back? Will I have to get a real job during this recession as a newly college graduate and get a hair transplant? Is that really my only hope, or is there something out there that is actually guaranteed to work? My hair doesn't look any thinner since I've been using Nioxin, but it doesn't look any thicker, either. If anyone out there has any good recommendations on how I can have a healthy head of thick hair again, please do tell.

    • ANSWER:
Well I'm not going to tell you anything that would work, as I don't know of anything that does. All I can say is that it is ok. Hair is not everything in the world. You shouldn't let something as small as this get you down. I know that I probably have no right in saying this as I still have hair, but everything will look fine. Personally, I hate hair. I have had a really short crew/buzz cut for years. I hate looking at men with long, greasy, disgusting hair. I think that men are meant to have short hair. Does it look like you shaved your head with a razor, or do you look bald? I think that the razor looks rather cool actually. Don't get a hair transplant, you are just wasting your money and your time. In time, people's hair will eventually come grey, and fall out. And then when they are all worrying about you won't have to, as you have experienced it before. I don't know of anything that works. Maybe Basley? I've seen a lot of commercials for that.

But please, be happy with what you have. Don't waste your money and time on something that doesn't mean anything in life.

  46. QUESTION:
how can i make my hair grow faster?
i was losing hair after my baby was born and got fed up one day of having handfuls of hair fall out so i got a pixie cut i hate it my hair was down my back :( so any ideas to speed up the regrowth of hair

    • ANSWER:
Take vitamins, eat a balanced diet, don't wash it every day, and get frequent trims. I also got a pixie cut about a year ago (also not exactly by choice - I let my boyfriend trim my hair and he botched it, so I had to go really short). A year and 3 months down the line, my hair is finally shoulder length and has style. So I know how you feel, but unless you want to get extensions there's not that much you can do. Lucky for you, the hormones from your pregnancy should speed up hair growth.

  47. QUESTION:
When can I chemically dye my hair after using Rainbow Henna?
Yesterday I applied Rainbow henna's dark brown henna to my hair. It worked... sort of. I already had medium brown hair, and I guess it made it a shade darker. But I want to get my hair back to it's dark chocolate color that I used to dye it in college, and I want to go to a hair salon to do it. I was told by a friend that it ruined my hair, and that I can't dye it again until it's completely grown out or my hair will fall out. Any other opinions?

Relaxers...how to manage your hair after them?...PLEASE HELP!! :( ?
Ok, im an 18 year old puerto rican male, and commonly as well with everyone else, i have dry extremly thick curly and frizzy hair....

here's the problem, i want my hair to grow, maybe get braids...i was told it takes 2-3 years to even get hair to the length i want it at...

well not even more than 2 weeks ago, i purchased a mild childrens hair relaxer, becuase i was new to them, and didnt really wanna do anything too drastic to my hair....after i had help with the application, my hair was completely straight........

and i did this without doing any research, and i just found out that my hair will not grow as fast as it used to... and now my hair is most likely damaged...and I DO NOT HOW TO TAKE CARE OF MY RELAXED HAIR...

In addition, while im in the shower and apply my normal dose of shampoo and conditioner, i noticed peices of my hair stripping away from my head! and im just like WTF!! and its not hair coming from the scalp...its just small pieces of hair falling off from everywhere....

now i dont know where i went wrong?...should i cut my hair off and start all over? its only about 3-4 inches in length...

my normal hair routine would be using the biolage matrix strenghning shampoo 2 times a week and smoothing conditioner 4 times a week...and after a few weeks id switch to head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner cuz i notcied im getting more dandruff than ever after the relaxer....i sometimes go a day without washing my hair becuase i like to let the natural scalp oils set in...

can someone please give me advice on how to restore my hair?! i dont want anymore to fall off! i feel like im going bald! ...
and with this new advice is it ok i just keep the hair i have now? i really dont feel like growing it all again back to step 1

and for those people who always need added information...
i don't brush my hair i comb it...
and when i dry my hair i never rub my head with the towel, i soak the water up

oh and another thing...i guess maybe becuase it was a childrens relaxer...after day 5-6 my hair looked like it was back to normal!! like when my hair dries up, it doesnt look as shiny or straight as it first did..that's how freakin curly and thick my hair is!.....but then again i was maybe guessing that's the hair growning under the relaxed hair which is maybe a good sign and its twisting the relaxed hair....im not sure...just assuming....so PLEASE HELP!!!..

    • ANSWER:
Your hair is breaking so you need something to add strength & elasticity to your damaged hair.I'll suggest a protein treatment since it helps to temporary mend/fill and strengthen week spots on the hair strands (remember our hair is made of keratin which is a protein so you have to reinforce your damaged keratin by using a protein hair re-constructor) but since protein itself can make the hair dry and stiff you need to put back that lost moisture with a second deep conditioner..That gives you both strength and moisture. To do that i'll recommend :ApHogee Two Step Protein Treatment http://www.sallybeauty.com/Protein-hair-Treatment/APHOGE4,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH
and Silk Elements Megasilk Moisture Treatment for moisture http://www.sallybeauty.com/moisturizing-treatment/SILKEL13,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair03&cm_vc=SEARCH
a cheaper alternative to aphogee protein treatment is:Nutress Hair Moisturizing Protein Pack for Extremely Damaged Hair

I'll recommend you use the aphogee though because you get instant results...God bless!

  49. QUESTION:
Hormones making my hair fall out?
I have read a little bout the process of your hair being in stages, and after awhile it falls out and gets replaced. I have been getting in the pool and out in the sun ALOT this summer. I heard not washing the chlorine out isn't good either. I have noticed bout 14ish hairs come out after I take a shower. plus another maybe 10 drying my hair and combing. I have longish thick hair. And it also comes out here and there when I pull on my hair. Lately I started noticing my other leg hair, some arm hair, some mustache, eyelash, eyebrow come out when I kinda pull on them. I am almost 15, male and grew facial hair little early. I still have to shave and where I shave daily on my face still seems to be growing back like normal. Does this mean its just going through its process with hormones and everything?? I can't really tell if its thinning out, I noticed it falling out for bout a week now. My hair still seems to be growing, haircut tomorrow. Please help!! and Thanks!!

  50. QUESTION:
Will my hair ever grow back?
When I was 16 my hair started to thin in the back at the top like I thought it was a cowlick. Then it got bigger and its thin to the back of the head. My hair on top top from the middle and little on the sides, one thing about the sides of my hair is my left side of my hair is thicker then my right side for some reason. I do not have a receding hair like, but my hair is extremely thin. When I run my hand through my hair you can see my scalp bad.... When its wet and I come it back, it looks like a old person's hair.. This all started to thin when I was 16 , at the time I would throw up after I ate atleast 2 times a day for about 6 months. I lost tremendous weight, about 30 pounds, I use to weigh 186 pounds.. I stayed up playing xbox360 for about 3 days straight.. And when I would stand up I would feel real light headed like I would fall over.. When I go to wet my hair, its like my hair has some kind of chemical that my hair doesn't absorb the water or something.. like when I wet it my hair looks dry at the roots? I been taking vitamins for hair, and overall vitamins for men for about 3 years now.. I am now 19 and I weigh 165 pounds, my hair is still thin :( If I look close to my hair it looks like there is still hair there, the follicles are just really thin for some reason=/.. I been trying rogain for like 5 months, I still don't see it working, My mom's hair is thick, so is my dads. I just don't know what happened cause people say if you throw up and don't eat right your hair can fall out and thin real bad, but I stopped my eating habits and throwing up and I still have thin hair and it's been 3 years, they said it takes months for it to grow back, well where is my hair at!?? I also have realized that I have been not drinking enough water, my lips would be chapped everyday and I wondered what would cause it.. I only drank like maybe half cup to 1 cup a glass a day of water.. so i assume I was really dehydrated for along time.. I drank like 1 cup of water a day for about 3 years or
so.. I just started drinking 5 glasses a day last week and I will continue.. anyone know anything that can be wrong with me ? please help thanks
I noticed I haven't been getting much protein a day, for awhile I haven't been eating a lot so my intake in protein was around 16g a day or so... And i'm 165 pounds , so I'm suppose to be eating about 56 grams of protein a day to be healthy, so maybe that was it... we'll see...

    • ANSWER:
Lack of water has nothing to do with what's happening to you, because you can get those from your daily fresh fruits & vegetables.

Taking supplements are NOT the answer, you get easily get proteins from all source of foods. Hair products will not help, but . . . your situation will improve. Not today, not next month, but like everything else, takes time.

Save your money instead of buying hair growth products or supplements. Vogue Dec. 2010, Vogue Feb. 2011 issue has a section on biotin, supplements, fish oil, etc. . Fish oil for example: Read the labels if they state that it contains: "one or more of the following: Cod, English Whiting, Shark."

The FDA don't even approve of them. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality don’t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.

According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated 6 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Don’t let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.

CNN, Slate, Consumer Reports, MSN, YAHOO have posted them online for years how people spend billion per year on vitamins and supplements.  According to Everyday Health, here's an article that will tell you why . . . those PRODUCTS by any other name do NOT WORK.  It is false advertisements.
